5 Ways to Add Color to Your Menswear

With late summer and Fall on the horizon, using a few colored pieces can refresh your wardrobe and keep you looking bold until heavy winter pieces become a must.

All you need are a few colored pieces to add life to what you have until you switch over to thick knits and heavy outerwear.

1) Colored Blazers
Summer blazers can be worn into early autumn as part of your weekend wardrobe.

For Autumn, you can always wear green, blue or red blazers.

With colored blazers, keeping your pants neutral is the way to go.  Use brown, navy, or gray and you cant go wrong.  Colored blazers are where your chinos will shine and see their best use.

2) Pop-color Footwear
Footwear gives the modern gentleman the chance to show off an unexpected pop of color.

From loafers to lace ups, you can get some classic shapes with energetic colors.

These shoes are ideal if you want to add some edge to your smart-casual wear.  Why wear black or tan shoes when you can add color and bring a new dimension to your outfit?

3) Colorful Cashmere
Ideal for those who like to stand out, bright cashmere v-necks and crew necks are an autumn must have.  The ultra soft fabric in bright hues continues to be on-trend season after season.

When putting together outfits, ensure the rest of your look is toned back and use more neutrals.  Combine your fine gauge tailored knit with chinos for labor day or a blazer and tailored pants when dressing up.

4) Accessories
Accessories are an easy way to add color to your outfits.  Bright socks, a bold belt, and of course pocket squares all do the trick.

Most colored accessories should just be used for your casual or smart-casual outfits.  A perfectly tailored suit with too much color is going to cause people to question your professionalism at the office.  Other than that pieces like colorful belts have gone mainstream.

5) Colorful Button-downs
Effortless yet highly effective, a button-down shirt is a great way to introduce color into your weekend wardrobe this fall.

You can easily find every shade - so pick something that complements your skin tone and personal style sense.

Checks are timeless and can be worn well into the season.  Like colorful cashmere, keep the bottom half neutral.

When teaming color with formal attire, don't go crazy.  Color also works best with tailored silhouettes and fitted cuts.  For your casual wear, feel free to go wild with color.  As long as the colors don't clash you can use color to give your outfits a ton of personality.
