You love your dad, right? (If you answered no, this probably isn't the guide for you). So, before you go out and buy him another off-the-rack tie or "Kiss the Cook" grill apron, let's really consider your options.
If you dad is the kind of guy who has to wear a tie regularly, this actually isn't a bad gift. But don't just buy a generic tie that the department store tells you is cool. This about your dad's style. Is he old school? Classic? Artsy? Trendy? Goofy? There is the right tie out there for him (although I'd stay away from character ties - let's not make him look ridiculous!).
Is your dad a big sports buff? Instead of the usual hat or t-shirt, consider hunting down something he'll really love. Find a signed ball from his favorite player. Or ticket stubs from that playoff game he's never forgotten. Or tickets to the next home game.
Just think about who your dad is and you'll be able to find the right gift. Oh, and start looking soon, nothing is worse than finding the right gift and finding it won't arrive in time. Good luck!
Father's Day is really about celebrating a relationship between a father and his kid(s). We might pretend that dad's aren't big softies deep down, but most are. So, don't be afraid to get him something beautiful or touching to remind him of this great relationship. Consider a fantastic piece of art or an inspiring quote for his office or bedroom.
